Holly Druckman, Music Director

In addition to Vox Lucens, Holly is the Founder and Music Director of the Carr Consort, a chamber choir dedicated to exploring often overlooked repertoire from the Renaissance and modern periods. Previous choral engagements include conducting posts with the Commonwealth Chorale, Cappella Clausura, Amor Artis, and the Columbia Josquin Singers, as well as guest appearances with the choir at Saint Stephen's Church in Providence, RI, and apprenticeships with the New England Conservatory Concert Choir and Chamber Singers.

In addition to early choral repertoire, Ms. Druckman is deeply committed to performing works by living composers. She has conducted premiere performances and/or readings of music by Max Grafe, Sayo Kosugi, Frank Brickle, Dominika Hwang, and Jeremy Wall. Most recently, she performed as a guest conductor with NEC's Contemporary Ensemble, performing works by Ives and Gesualdo (with the Carr Consort) and Jacob Druckman's Dark Upon the Harp, for voice, brass quintet, and percussion. In 2010, Ms. Druckman founded and directed the Columbia New Music Ensemble, where she premiered works by student composers side-by-side with classics of the contemporary repertoire. Over the years, she has been engaged as a guest conductor with the new music ensembles Cygnus, counter)induction, and Face the Music.

Ms. Druckman received her MM with academic honors from the New England Conservatory only a few months ago, studying Historical Musicology and Choral Conducting, with a focus on Middle Renaissance Polyphony. She is the 2018 recipient of NEC's Gunther Schuller Award. Prior to NEC, Ms. Druckman attended Columbia University, where her thesis and concert series about the Orpheus myth earned her departmental honors. Further studies were undertaken at Westminster Choir College, the European-American Musical Alliance, the International Institute for Conductors, the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute, and the Mannes College of Music.
